Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as college/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should efficiently handle repetitive tasks
  • The candidates should have attention to detail
  • The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, and order supplies and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations, and establish guidelines for behavior
