Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have 2 years of experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to organize time effectively and meet deadlines

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have basic knowledge of employee benefits and general financial statement information
  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively enter employee benefits and payroll data into the HRIS (PeopleSoft) ERP
  • The candidates should have the ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules and regulations of legislation, employment agreements, manuals, and other payroll principles
  • The candidates should have the ability to collect, review, understand, and effectively address complaints concerning earnings, benefit coverages, and deductions for various employee types
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • The candidates should have the ability to work with people in an effective, positive, and tactful manner and proficient in the use of desktop software applications
  • The candidates should have 1 year of related coursework OR 5 years of related experience, preferably in a public service environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide a range of services including the preparation and verification of payroll, employee benefits, and financial functions
  • The candidates should be able to work in teams across the GNWT to ensure all work items are processed in a timely and accurate fashion
  • The candidates should be able to fulfill responsibilities for providing a range of financial services for all Departments of the GNWT, the NWTHC, Boards, Agencies, and Authorities
  • The candidates should be able to work in operational offices located in Yellowknife, Fort Smith, Hay River, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, and Inuvik
  • The candidates should be able to manage often competing priorities, timelines, and workload demands under the shared services model for each respective client
  • The candidates should be able to share responsibilities with other Accounting Clerks across the Northwest Territories
  • The candidates should be able to receive mentoring and assistance from Senior Accounting Clerks within its team

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get plus an annual Northern Allowance of $12982.00
