Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should possess strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze root causes and resolve complex issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations
  • The candidates should have excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise instructions and directions, including over radio

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor and Locomotive Engineer qualification
  • The candidates should demonstrate a leadership presence with the drive and commitment to career advancement
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English
  • The candidates should possess  or general equivalency diploma and hold a valid driver’s license, be proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate all train movements within the yard and mainline through active supervision of personnel and communication across departments, ensuring compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate and standardize processes related to the operating plan, including arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership accountability for the inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics
  • The candidates should be able to effectively lead Trains and Engines operating employees by acting as a safety leader through active observations, rule compliance discussions, and implementation of preventative measures via staff engagement
  • The candidates should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain necessary certifications and licenses (such as Canadian Rail Operating Rules and Engineer certification) as required by industry regulations, assist in the transportation of crews to and from trains
