Barn Sanitation & Maintenance Crew Member

Maple Leaf Foods based in Hanover, Ontario is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Barn Sanitation & Maintenance Crew Member. Maple Leaf Foods is located in Hanover, ON and presently employees approximately 140 employees between our farms and hatchery. As of now, we have the ability to hatch approximately 900,000 chicks per week.
The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible. The vacancies refer to part time or permanent employment. The shifts the candidate has to work are yet to be determined.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as high school, diploma, bachelor’s degree, or certification
Experience: Candidates need experience in hand tools and Steiner’s

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work in extreme weather hot or cold

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to demonstrate commitment to safe work practices
  • The candidate must understand and follow all Animal Welfare/CHEQ/Biosecurity procedures
  • The candidate should have strong communication skills
  • The candidate should be capable of performing heavy work on a daily basis
  • The candidate should be able to complete work without supervision
  • The candidate should be able to work longer hours on some days (e.g. early starts and/or late end times)
  • The candidate may be required to work some weekends
  • The candidate having experience with feeding equipment an asset
  • The candidate having poultry background an asset
  • The candidate should have a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to clean, disinfect and maintain barns and equipment at the Hanover Breeder and Pullet Farms.
  • The candidate should be able to clean company owned Breeder and Pullet Farm barns and equipment
  • The candidate should be able to take care of sanitation of barns and equipment using chemicals
  • The candidate should be able to take care of maintenance and repairs to barns, maintenance and repairs to barn equipment
  • The candidate should be able to take care of operation of variety of machinery and hand tools
  • The candidate should be able to install new equipment
  • The candidate should be able to take care of changing over old equipment
  • The candidate should be able to travel to various farms
  • The candidate should be able to take care of moving spiking birds
  • The candidate should be able to perform other duties as assigned
