Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum Grade 12 diploma
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or a restaurant

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically fit, capable of bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 70lb repetitively
  • The candidates should be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, or able to provide proof of the right to work in Canada
  • The candidates should be able to provide training and guidance to kitchen staff

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • The candidates should have excellent knowledge of food safety and food allergies
  • The candidates should ideally hold a Food Safe Level 1 certification
  • The candidates should successfully pass both Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) and Radio Operator’s Certificate (ROC-A) written exams within 60 days of employment
  • The candidates should complete AVOP certification within 90 days of employment
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to a positive team environment by providing support, motivation, and encouragement to peers

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure food is produced and assembled according to BWB specifications
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with safety, work, and food handling policies, procedures, and regulations Transport Canada, Health Canada, YG Aviation Branch and Air North
  • The candidates should be able to prepare a variety of food items, including baked goods, sandwiches, salads, wraps, snacks, and hot food items
  • The candidates should be able to ensure proper cooking, packaging, storage, and handling of food items, maintaining appropriate temperatures for safety
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and maintain inventory levels, communicating needs to management and participating in inventory counts
  • The candidates should be able to foster effective communication between kitchen and counter staff to maintain efficient workflow
  • The candidates should be able to accommodate clients with specific allergies and/or diet restrictions
  • The candidates should be able to report maintenance issues with equipment promptly
  • The candidates should be able to ensure opening/closing security procedures are followed as per guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to a positive team environment by providing support, motivation, and encouragement to peers
