Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of High school education
Experience: Candidates should have experience cooking for banquet or buffet events

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of lifting a minimum of 20 kg

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Food Safe Certification and a valid Serving it Right certification
  • The candidates should have experience with preparing and cooking a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals
  • The candidates should ideally have experience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to operate, maintain, and clean standard cooking and kitchen equipment
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service
  • The candidates should be able to provide exemplary customer service

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage in the preparation of a variety of a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, including banquet and buffet functions, at one of the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation’s City Golf Courses
  • The candidates should be able to prepare light meals and short orders from an established menu, adhering to principles of proper food handling, preparation, and storage
  • The candidates should be able to prepare various foods such as vegetables, meats, soups, salads, and baking following standardized recipes and methods as directed by their supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to handle cash when required, assisting with covering breaks and shift overlaps
  • The candidates should be able to plate and present food to specifications and cook for varying numbers of guests during peak and non-peak times, ensuring consistent results
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a clean kitchen by following hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, and perform related tasks including washing dishes, pots, pans, storage areas, and floors
  • The candidates should be able to provide exemplary customer service to all patrons, ensuring satisfaction with their dining experience
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with liquor licensing regulations at all times while performing their duties
