Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed an Educational Assistant Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with at-risk youth or youth with differential learning needs in a classroom setting
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada and maintain a satisfactory Internal Security Check (Level 4)
- The candidates should possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector
- The candidates should possess and maintain a satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have instructional experience or training, follow and implement goals established by teachers and clinicians
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and exercise sound judgment and decision-making and strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- The candidates should have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and develop strong working relationships with colleagues and students
- The candidates should have the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy and knowledge of Indigenous culture and justice issues
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to support students and assist teachers with teaching and non-instructional tasks
- The candidates should be able to assist in areas of personal care, ensuring students’ well-being and comfort
- The candidates should be able to help in teaching assigned exercises and curriculum as directed by teachers and/or the Educational Coordinator
- The candidates should be able to assist in behaviour management, implementing strategies under the supervision of teachers and provide classroom support by preparing materials and organizing activities
- The candidates should be able to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students and collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure student success
