Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the operation and maintenance of commonly used bridge maintenance equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should have or be able to obtain operator certification on core light and heavy-duty equipment
  • The candidates should have the ability to respond to an emergency situation within a reasonable time frame (45 minutes)
  • The candidates should be able to work extended hours, weekends, and on statutory holidays and be called out to work at unusual hours
  • The candidates should be able to work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold
  • The candidates should possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 3.0 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
  • The candidates should be able to be certified as a Capable Person Trainer

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience related to bridge maintenance operations. Related training and experience
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to complete paperwork and prepare reports
  • The candidates should possess experience with road maintenance policies, practices and materials
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Risk Management Policies and Procedures
  • The candidates should exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • The candidates should possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • The candidates should have strong decision-making skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work as a member of a crew operating specialized equipment or tools specific to the Bridge Maintenance Program
  • The candidates should be able to organize, direct, and supervise all Bridge Maintenance activities within the designated work area in the absence of the Area Works Supervisor
  • The candidates should be able to effectively communicate with team members and ensure tasks are carried out efficiently and safely
  • The candidates should be able to maintain a high standard of work quality and adhere to established safety protocols and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs or adjustments
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the planning and scheduling of maintenance tasks and projects
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership skills and provide guidance and support to crew members
  • The candidates should be able to prioritize tasks and effectively manage time to meet deadlines and project goals
  • The candidates should be able to maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment maintenance activities
