Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a university honours degree in communications, marketing, public relations and journalism
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of progressive experience in communications or public relations

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work independently and in cooperation with the Manager of Communications and other team members, as well as communications officers across the campus
  • The candidates should be able to work to tight deadlines and communicate effectively with a broad range of university clients and external publics
  • The candidates should be flexible, able to respond to weekend and evening requests

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a strong background in planning and using corporate communications, including social media and other digital platforms
  • The candidates should have superior writing and editing skills, particularly in storytelling and translate difficult subjects into accessible and compelling language
  • The candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills in building and maintaining effective relationships
  • The candidates should have a good understanding of the requirements of major and specialist news media
  • The candidates should be creative, resourceful, initiative-driven, and exhibit sensitivity, tact, and discretion
  • The candidates should have strong planning and project management skills, knowledge of French and be client-service driven
  • The candidates should have , with demonstrable experience in the planning and development of digital communications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan, implement, evaluate, and report on an integrated corporate communications program to advance Carleton University’s profile and reputation
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with colleagues from across campus, coordinating and deploying effective communications strategies across web, social media, and traditional channels
  • The candidates should be able to measure and report on the success of communications strategies, ensuring alignment with the university’s objectives
