Salary: $350.00 to $600.00 daily (To be negotiated) for 70 hours per week
Employment Type: Seasonal employment Full time
Location: Smithers, BC
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Overtime, Morning, 07:00 to 19:00
Transportation information: Willing to travel regularly, travel expenses paid by employer
Work setting: Staff accommodation provided, room and board provided, remote location, various locations, remote or mobile
Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as degree, certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years
Area of specialization: Timber harvesting or production
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, gloves
Credentials: First Aid Certificate, Forest Worker Provincial Accreditation, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, chainsaw operation training
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work outdoors and in wet/damp environments
- The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads and be prepared for physically demanding tasks
- The candidates should be comfortable bending, crouching, and kneeling, and be able to handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be dependable and reliable with efficient interpersonal skills, demonstrating a team player attitude
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to operate a chainsaw to fell, delimb, and buck trees, and write daily basic progress reports
- The candidates should be able to maintain and perform minor repairs on skidders, chainsaws, and other equipment, and erect and dismantle scaffolds and other platforms
- The candidates should be able to build staging or erect scaffolding for heavy metalworking jobs, and measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
