Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of an approved Library Technician Diploma program supplemented by courses in the use of computers
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have some related experience in providing library services, including programming, information services, working with the community, and collection maintenance
  • The candidates should possess considerable knowledge of paraprofessional library methods, procedures, and tools applicable to the work
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of the objectives, organization, procedures, services, and resources of the Library and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The candidates should be able to plan, organize, and carry out assigned duties and responsibilities with supervision and participate in the maintenance of the library collection
  • The candidates should be able to assist patrons with electronic devices such as e-book readers, smartphones, and library computers
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • The candidates should be able to learn new technologies, applications, software, processes, and skills and an understanding of library services, collections, technologies, and resources
  • The candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to serving clients, being open, pragmatic, and responsive to clients and the community

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Assistant Manager, Information Services and provide service to the public, meeting established Library strategic objectives and service standards
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate and model conduct that adheres to the library’s policies and procedures in accordance with the Library’s vision, mission, and values
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively within the Information Services team and system-wide to ensure service priorities are met as a paraprofessional member of the team
