BC Tree Fruits based in Oliver, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Line Operator. BC Tree Fruits has been bringing the communities of the Okanagan Valley together with delicious, top of the line fruits since 1936. Our 300 plus local grower families work together as part of a larger community. We are constantly working to improve the quality of the fruit our growers produce including assistance with sales, marketing, accounting, technology, shipping and regulation compliance. We are known to provide satisfaction to our customers, that they don’t have to go to any one else after getting the best services from us. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as a high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials, Certificates, Licences: Candidates must have knowledge of First Aid Procedures, WHMIS/GHS Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout Procedures and Water Treatment Procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be physically strong
  • The candidate should be able to stand for extended periods
  • The candidate should be able to walk

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should willing to submit to periodic proficiency testing as management deems necessary
  • The candidate should have an excellent oral communication skill
  • The candidate should be a team player
  • The candidate should be able to work in an organized way
  • The candidate should be able to perform basic troubleshooting and reporting any malfunctions of the equipment
  • The candidate should be able to work overtime
  • The candidate should be required to cross-train in all production roles
  • The candidate should have possess time management skills to ensure efficiency
  • The candidate should have the ability to work competently with computers

Responsibilities:

    • The candidate should be able to be sufficiently trained in the operating positions and to assist and fill all production roles as required
    • The candidate should be able to monitor wax, scholar, chlorination, ORP systems and water levels on bin filler and flumes
    • The candidate should be able to ensure that the production lines are running according to the production schedule and proper work procedures
    • The candidate should be able to assigning certain aspects of work as well as demonstrating proper work procedures to employees
    • The candidate should be able to assess lines to ensure food and worker safety, quality, and correct production as per Canada GAP and WSBC regulations
    • The candidate should be able to keep track of paperwork for startup verification, costing; number of people on the line, number of bins ran, total culls and downtime
    • The candidate should be able to ensure that a radio is always carried and perform a daily radio check (refer to SOP)
    • The candidate should be able to ensure that the Downtime Duties List is communicated during downtime
    • The candidate should be able to performing basic troubleshooting and reporting any malfunctions of the equipment
    • The candidate should be able to ensure that all WorkSafe and Food Safe procedures are adhered too
    • The candidate should be able to bring forward maintenance concerns and production related matters to management
    • The candidate should be able to track grower lots, partial bins and packing through the IMS and Mapper programs
    • The candidate should be able to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with the production supervisors
    • The candidate should be able to work closely with maintenance and the management team
    • The candidate should be able to cross-train in all locations within this specific classification
    • The candidate should be able to participate in the training of employees
    • The candidate should be able to participate and coordinate in emergency procedures
    • The candidate should be able to ensure the changing of PLUs and printing of labels
    • The candidate should be able to verify of the stamper including date, product SKU, lot number
    • The candidate should be able to verify of QC checks and communicate with appropriate employees on the line
    • The candidate should be able to perform any other duties assigned within the nature of the job
    • The candidate should be able to ensure you are following the WINS program at all times.
    • The candidate should be able to maintain a safe, clean and sanitary working area by keeping the area clear of product and supplies
    • The candidate should be able to keep tools and equipment clean and in good shape and put clean tools away when they are finished in the appropriate designated areas
    • The candidate should be able to ensure that all waste and garbage is disposed of correctly i.e. recycling and garbage
    • The candidate should be able to keep storage area uncluttered and materials are stacked properly
    • The candidate should be able to maintain handwashing procedure and ensuring this is completed before entering the area of production
    • The candidate should be able to keep all access routes clear and report any issues promptly
    • The candidate should be able to use wet floor signage when required and report any spills to your production supervisor
