Knight Inlet Lodge based in Black Creek, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Outdoor guide. Knight Inlet Lodge was founded in mid-1990s in the heart of the Great Bear Rain Forest of British Columbia. Our visitors come from all over the world to experience the sight of wild bears and whales. We offer comfort, fine food, spectacular scenery and of course, the wildlife viewing experience of a lifetime, right from our front door. We are known to provide satisfaction to our customers, that they don’t have to go to any one else after getting the best services from us. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Job Description:

Salary: $4,500 to $6,000 monthly for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Full time
Location: Black Creek, BC
Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, To be determined, Early Morning and Morning
Work Location Information: The location is remote
Work Site Environment: Candidates should work in outdoors, in or on water
Security and Safety: Criminal record should checked

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma or equivalent experience
Experience: Having experience is an asset
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Candidates must have Wilderness First Aid Certificate, First Aid Certificate and Bear awareness Certification
Guide Specializations: Candidates must have knowledge of general outdoors guiding

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to take initiative
  • The candidate should have an effective interpersonal skills
  • The candidate should have an excellent oral communication
  • The candidate should be able to work with being focused on the client
  • The candidate should be someone who can judge the situation
  • The candidate should be someone who can be relied on
  • The candidate should be able to work in an organized way

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to provide outdoor, wilderness and wildlife instruction
  • The candidate should be able to escort groups on outdoor sport and recreational trips
  • The candidate should be able to advise on specific regulations such as hunting and fishing laws and boating regulations, follow environmental guidelines and prevent violations
  • The candidate should be able to operate photographic and video equipment
  • The candidate should be able to operate off-road vehicles
  • The candidate should be able to operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
  • The candidate should be able to operate communication (including emergency) devices
  • The candidate should be able to operate and maintain watercraft
  • The candidate should be able to orienteering and/or survival
