Ranch hand | (LMIA Approved)

Calgary Stockyards Ltd. based in Calgary, AB is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Ranch hand. The Calgary Stockyards Ltd. has been in business since 1902. Our facility has 6 cattle liner chutes and 3 stock trailer chutes for unloading and loading your livestock quickly and smoothly. We have large dirt floor overnight livestock pens with straw bedding and access to water. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible. This position of the Ranch hand is approved by LMIA.

Location: 5925 12th Street SE Calgary, AB T2H 2M3
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Early Morning, Morning
Work Site Environment: Other miscellaneous animal farming, Wet/damp, Noisy, Odours, Dusty

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as a high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
Experience: Candidates need experience of 5 years or more.
Equipment and machinery experience: Loader, Tractor
Automated systems experience: Feeding and watering system
Area of specialization: Beef cattle

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and pay attention to detail.
  • The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads.
  • The candidate should be physically demanding.
  • The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks on frequent basis.
  • The candidate should be willing to work in bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking position for extended periods of time.

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have effective interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate should be efficient and a good team player.
  • The candidate should be organised and flexible in nature.
  • The candidate should be someone who can be relied on.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate must have cattle training.
  • The candidate should be able to handle animals, monitor animal health.
  • The candidate should feed and tend animals, clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens.
