Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Credentials:Â Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety:Â Immunization records and vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to perform physically demanding tasks, manage a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, and perform bending, crouching, and kneeling activities
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have punctuality, dependability, and efficient interpersonal skills
- The candidates should have excellent oral communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, and judgement
- The candidates should be reliable, team players, and demonstrate values and ethics
- The candidates should have creativity, honesty, and the ability to multitask
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, and lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity, engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, and have knowledge of licensing regulations
- The candidates should be able to attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
