Shift: Must be able to work all shifts (days, afternoon, evening, overnights, weekends) – MUST BE ABLE TO WORK IN ROTATIONAL SHIFTS

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualification such as post-secondary education in an Emergency Services Communications program
Experience: Candidates need a minimum of 1 year experience as security dispatcher (high volume intake experience preferred) and having a minimum of 6 months experience as a call taker/ dispatcher in a service industry an asset

Other Requirements:

• The candidate should have the ability to manage radio communications and telephone inquiries and have an above average skills working to O365 applications including Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, Word, etc
• The candidate should have demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy
• The candidate should have an excellent verbal/written communication skills
• The candidate should have a strong understanding of Conestoga’s rules and policies and be knowledgeable on the layout of the campus, i.e., knowing the correct laneways

Responsibilities:

• The candidate should be able to respond to incidents of crisis and determine avenues for assistance and be able to utilize multiple softwares at once, CCTV, access control, mass notification
• The candidate should be able to absorb information from different platforms, analyze and make decisions and create and update activities in excel based Dispatch for ongoing calls and incidents in a timely fashion
• The candidate should be able to use Alarm Monitoring software to keep track of intrusion alarms and dispatch guards to investigate and place fire alarm systems on disregard upon the request of approved contractor work and Conestoga Facilities
• The candidate should be able to answer security related calls and dispatch guards to assist and/or investigate and answer general inquiries relating to the college, transferring calls to the applicable department/individual if dispatch is unable to answer the question
• The candidate should be able to dispatch guards to corresponding calls to their respective zones and maintain professionalism at all time as VPs and management will be working in the same building as dispatch
• The candidate should be able to contact and update the on-call contacts when and if needed and also keep track and monitor the location of all guards
• The candidate should be able to liaise with various agencies including 911 emergency call center, WRPS non-emergency, and fire department designated to each city WFD, KFD, CFD, GFD and BFD. for Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph and Brantford non-emergency, liaise with external organizations including but not limited to fire systems service companies, elevator service companies, etc. and also liaise with other Conestoga departments and stakeholders (facilities, IT, residence, etc.) to ensure effective and timely response
