Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or other applicable field
Experience: Candidates should have Minimum of 8+ years of relevant related and industry experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • The candidates should possess exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong research skills, critical thinking capabilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills with a proven ability to handle priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • The candidates should preferably have previous experience in a sustainability/ESG related role, particularly in emissions reporting or forecasting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to monitor legislative developments to support the forecasting of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) compliance costs on Cenovus’s current and future operations
  • The candidates should be able to provide subject matter expertise to internal teams such as Strategy, Planning, Environment & Regulatory, Finance/Investor Relations, and Risk Management to support their internal processes and external engagement
  • The candidates should be able to support the asset and reserves team with carbon liability forecast and work cross-functionally to develop quarterly updates for the GHG forecast for the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) target dashboard
  • The candidates should be able to monitor, assess, and communicate the impact of emissions regulations and best practices related to low-carbon policy scenario analysis and carbon-related financial risk
  • The candidates should be able to support Alberta carbon market activities, including tracking market data, updating internal quarterly forecast reports, and supporting market transactions
  • The candidates should be able to conduct product life cycle GHG assessments and climate-related peer analysis and develop emissions performance benchmarks, as required and able to support the identification of opportunities, individuals, and organizations that focus on climate finance and issues relevant to our sector
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the Cenovus Sustainability Advisory Council meetings and support initiatives, including material preparation as well as the tracking of actions and decisions at council meetings
  • The candidates should be able to provide analysis to support the company’s interactions with ESG teams at financial institutions (including investors), sustainability organizations, credit ratings agencies, and other external organizations interested in Cenovus’s sustainability performance
  • The candidates should be able to monitor climate-related lobbying assessments and track sustainability trends and activism to support assessment of relevance to the company and recommendations on potential action
  • The candidates should be able to occasionally provide support to the Government Affairs team with GHG policy advocacy projects and able to participate in relevant industry association committees as required (CAPP, Ipieca, and AFPM)
