Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should be able to drill down, understand root causes, and resolve complex issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent focus, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess general equivalency diploma, hold a valid driver’s license, read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English
  • The candidates should be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to lead a unionized team in performing maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on freight cars, mobile equipment, and vehicles used in plant, yard, and road service
  • The candidates should be able to ensure freight car repairs comply with Association of American Railroad regulations, Transport Canada standards, and CPKC policies
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with internal and external partners to improve operational fluidity and ensure daily compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity, and financial performance metrics
  • The candidates should be able to enforce safety compliance within the terminal by applying corrective actions as necessary and engaging in safety discussions to foster a safety-first culture
  • The candidates should be able to conduct operational briefings and ensure that all documentation is accurate, complete, and properly communicated to the next Supervisor on shift
  • The candidates should be able to mentor and coach mechanical employees through active observation, offering constructive feedback to support their development
