Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education
Experience: Candidates should have experience in implementing inquiry-based instructional pedagogy

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be eligible for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate and a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions
  • The candidates should have experience in curriculum implementation, with a focus on competency-based education
  • The candidates should have experience in competency-based assessment and evaluation and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • The candidates should have an understanding of the Northwest Territories’ inclusive schooling practices
  • The candidates should have knowledge of land-based education principles and practices and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with educators, Elders, and community members to design and implement a competency-based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values
  • The candidates should be able to foster a learning environment that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives, ensuring the curriculum reflects the local Indigenous culture
  • The candidates should be able to implement strategies to promote equity and inclusion within the school community, addressing disparities and fostering a sense of belonging for all students
  • The candidates should be able to liaise between the school and the community, seeking input, collaboration, and feedback to improve educational programs continuously
  • The candidates should be able to develop and integrate land-based learning opportunities into the curriculum, fostering a deep connection to the land and traditional practices
