Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be at least 18 years of age
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license
- The candidates should have the ability to follow instructions and rules and regulations
- The candidates should have the ability to work as a valuable member of a team
- Good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills are essential for the candidates
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform moderate to heavy physical Labour on an assigned area of track. This work involves: pull track spikes, apply rail anchors, shovel crushed rock, bend & lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and handle repetitive tasks
- The candidates should be able to emphasize safety, as it is critical for all employees. This can be a high-risk environment as you will be working around heavy moving equipment
- The candidates should be able to remain focused at all times and be willing to work in a team environment
- The candidates should be able to work outdoors, as the work location is outdoors, and therefore, you will be working in all weather conditions (rain, direct sunlight, snow, etc.)
- The candidates should be able to travel, as this position may require traveling. While traveling, you will receive mileage, hotel accommodations, meal expenses, etc.
- The candidates should be able to handle being away from home, as accommodations and meal allowance will be provided
- The candidates should be able to understand that work can be seasonal and employees may be laid off at the end of the work season. Employees will be called back as needed (and in seniority order) for the next work season
