Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed Electrical First Block Level Training at a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience: Candidates should have experience in electrical maintenance and repair
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be capable of meeting physical demands such as climbing ladders, bending, stretching, twisting in tight spaces, standing or kneeling on cement floors, and lifting or moving heavy objects
- The candidates should regularly lift or move objects between 25 and 50 lbs and lift or move objects over 50 lbs on a regular basis
- The candidates should possess problem-solving skills and the ability to manage time and tasks effectively and exhibit strong teamwork abilities
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have possess the necessary hours for the apprentice level as per the conditions established by the Division of Institutional and Industrial Training
- The candidates should provide confirmation of completion of Electrician First Block Level Training at a recognized post-secondary institution
- The candidates should have knowledge of electrical maintenance and repair, electrical trade practices and codes, and Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices
- The candidates should hold a valid Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Class 05 license and provide a recent and satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to progress through the various levels of the Apprenticeship Training Program with the goal of achieving Journeyperson certification by gaining relevant work experience and mentoring
- The candidates should be able to assist the Journeyperson Electrician in providing skilled electrical services, adhering to approved electrical trade practices and codes
- The candidates should be able to contribute to the operation, maintenance, alteration, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, components, and fixtures in various government-owned and leased buildings
- The candidates should be able to perform their duties in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and safe work practices related to workplace and equipment
- The candidates should be able to undertake other related duties as required to support the objectives of the apprenticeship program
