Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French or English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of health care-related experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work with clients, teams, and stakeholders from diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds, demonstrating high levels of sensitivity and diplomacy

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess CPR Certification and a Personal Care Worker Certificate or be in the process of pursuing a certificate, diploma, degree in a health-related field
  • The candidates should have the ability to reflect on their own biases and demonstrate empathy for clients
  • The candidates should possess effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-professional team environment
  • The candidates should be reliable, cooperative, and client-focused, demonstrating motivation and initiative as a team player

  • The candidates should be familiar with clinical care and issues specific to mental health and addictions settings

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the organization and safe, optimal function of the unit under the direction of clinical staff and promote the maintenance of a therapeutic milieu as part of an interprofessional team
  • The candidates should be able to operate within a trauma-informed, harm-reduction paradigm, contributing to and participating in supportive interactions and monitoring for both individual clients and groups, providing direct care and support
  • The candidates should be able to accompany clients for medical clearance and other necessary transfers as deemed
  • The candidates should be able to supervise and facilitate client participation in group and individual activities in collaboration with clinicians
  • The candidates should be able to communicate both verbally and in writing regarding behavioural observations, assessments, and clients’ responses to care interventions
  • The candidates should be able to take an active role in maintaining both dynamic and static safety elements within the program and service
  • The candidates should be able to support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
  • The candidates should be able to work shift rotations and on weekends as required by the position
