Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in a postsecondary setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an advanced diploma (3 years) in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline/field, P.Eng designation, a graduate degree, an Ontario College Graduate Certificate, a CET designation in an electrical discipline, or a Certificate of Qualification in an electrical skilled trade
  • The candidates should have a minimum of 5 years practical experience related to the field of study and a strong understanding of industrial telecommunications and electrical principles
  • The candidates should have experience with lab test equipment, including digital scopes and spectrum analyzers and experience in building, programming, and troubleshooting embedded and microcontroller systems
  • The candidates should have experience in constructing, testing, and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits and experience applying engineering to real-world problems in building electrical systems, telecommunications and data networking, or related fields
  • The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting and demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum
  • The candidates should have demonstrated provision of academic leadership, including providing guidance to colleagues and instructors, participating in curriculum development, and serving in roles such as program coordinator or academic advisor
  • The candidates should have demonstrated commitment to continued learning in teaching and curriculum development, with examples including completion of training programs or participation in teaching and learning conferences and possess highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to consult with program and course administrators, other faculty members, advisory committees, and a variety of potential employers and students and define learning outcomes and evaluate and validate these outcomes
  • The candidates should be able to specify and approve learning approaches, necessary resources and incorporate educational technologies to meet the learning needs of 21st-century students
  • The candidates should be able to review and revise curriculum and participate in professional development activities during non-teaching periods
  • The candidates should be able to deliver regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall, Winter, or Summer terms in the home department or across departments
  • The candidates should be able to ensure student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques
  • The candidates should be able to provide tutoring and academic advising for students both in and out of class
  • The candidates should be able to provide a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, including educational technologies
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate student progress and achievement and assume responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses
  • The candidates should be able to develop and create a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students
