Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to participate in the collection of field data for engineering projects, operating various manual and electronic equipment such as survey levels, sewer and drain depth recorders, and collecting seasonal water samples from various locations for laboratory analysis
- The candidates should be able to update computer files and records from source data, prepare statistical reports, and assist in the production and updating of related engineering drawings and maps
- The candidates should be able to conduct preliminary investigations regarding sewer odours, water leaks, flooding conditions, and harbour pollution, as well as respond to general inquiries from the public and staff, operating a vehicle to transport equipment and supplies
- The candidates should be able to assist with supernumerary projects and contribute to the overall goals of the work unit, as well as participate in the development and improvement of future-focused projects that align with the department’s strategic goals and objectives by providing supernumerary field or office support
- The candidates should be able to conduct and document research, analyze and interpret data, prepare summaries of findings, draft reports, procedures, and/or practices, and present them to the supervisor for feedback and/or next steps
- The candidates should be able to assist with identifying and testing new and/or enhanced tools and processes, collaborating to ensure shared learning
