Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English, Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and French  Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as minimum Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the production and distribution of power

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a high school education
  • The candidates should possess basic computer skills
  • The candidates should hold a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driver’s abstract
  • The candidates should consider having a related journeyman certificate in the electrical and mechanical trades or equivalent
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Nunavut, including its land, language and culture
  • The candidates should have ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun and French

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate the plant, ensuring that all safety and emergency equipment are maintained in accordance with applicable standards
  • The candidates should be able to conduct plant checks as required to identify any issues requiring immediate attention
  • The candidates should be able to perform minor preventative maintenance and emergency repairs as needed to ensure the continued operation of the plant
  • The candidates should be able to monitor fuel transfers to ensure safe and expedient delivery according to established procedures
  • The candidates should be able to assist with inspection, repairs, and verification of line and metering equipment to maintain operational efficiency
  • The candidates should be able to assist area maintenance or contract maintenance crews in scheduling, monitoring, and providing hands-on assistance for projects
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with community and local business representatives, fostering cooperation and support
