Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have a valid AZ and/or DZ license
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have manual dexterity and the ability to lift 75+ lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a strong work ethic
- The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and be highly motivated
- The candidates should be available for on-call work for emergency response
- The candidates should possess valid Certification in First Aid/CPR is required (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of employment)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to be responsible for the collection of various liquid and solid hazardous waste from various customer sites
- The candidates should be able to respond to environmental and industrial spills
- The candidates should be able to decommission clandestine laboratories
- The candidates should be able to respond to highway incidents involving tractor trailers, accidents, and chemical leaks
- The candidates should be able to respond to train derailments involving hazardous chemicals, fires, and site safety planning
- The candidates should be able to participate in marine operations, mostly regarding fuel spills into open bodies of water, involving boom deployment and boat operations
- The candidates should be able to respond to weather event responses, including wind/ice storms, forest fires, and flooding
- The candidates should be able to conduct chemical assessments and advisory services
- The candidates should be able to work alongside police, fire, EMS, Environment Canada, and other stakeholders
- The candidates should be able to respond to incidents involving heavy equipment, vacuum trucks, and water blasters
- The candidates should be able to collect hazardous and non-hazardous goods
- The candidates should be able to participate in job-specific and health & safety training as required
- The candidates should be able to complete work-related documentation and reporting
- The candidates should be able to perform work in a safe manner, so as not to endanger oneself or others, and report workplace hazards, accidents, or other occurrences that may pose a risk to the organization or the safety of oneself or others
- The candidates should be able to adhere to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, and Employment Standards Act
- The candidates should be able to participate in team/staff meetings when required
- The candidates should be able to work in a manner that preserves confidentiality and minimizes risk
