Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrology, Natural Resource Management and Environmental Science
Experience: Candidates should have experience in planning, developing, and implementing adult training and professional development initiatives

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in science with specialization in earth sciences, hydrology, hydraulics, or related subject areas
  • The candidates should hold a degree or diploma in a natural resource field, preferably associated with water resource management or Diploma in Water Resource Management, Forest and Natural Areas Management
  • The candidates should have a post-secondary technical diploma in civil or geotechnical engineering
  • The candidates should have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration specializing in adult education, professional training, or related subject area
  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training and a master’s degree in a related field as described above
  • The candidates should have experience in leading and facilitating project teams and working with multiple stakeholders to deliver a product, program, or service
  • The candidates must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence and experience preparing course curricula, instructional manuals, or other training and business-related documentation
  • The candidates should have experience collaborating with managers and staff, professionals and subject matter specialists, educators, and other stakeholders to ensure the relevancy of training and consistency with corporate objectives, regulations, standards
  • The candidates should have experience instructing others adult learners or overseeing the instruction of others through the use of consultants, contractors, or business specialists

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support the vision of the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship by reflecting the pride British Columbians have in their natural resources
  • The candidates should be able to lead in the sustainable management of the province’s natural resources, ensuring BC’s natural heritage is preserved for future generations
  • The candidates should be able to educate staff and clients on dam safety policies, procedures, legislation, and practices, and raise awareness of the Dam Safety Program
  • The candidates should be able to plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate province-wide training programs, educational and engagement campaigns
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate the development of policies and guidelines related to dam safety
