Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months of verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last three years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment, be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • The candidates should be available for shifts ranging from 4 to 10 hours, with potential overtime, be prepared for start times between 06:30 and 17:45 hours and end times between 15:30 and 24:00 hours
  • The candidates should be able to work on a rotational rest day schedule, with possible rest days on Sunday, Monday, Monday, Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Thursday, Friday, Friday, Saturday, or Saturday, Sunday
  • The candidates should be open to overnight shifts when necessary, as elected by the employee, willing to travel to Salmon Arm, Kamloops, Penticton, Vernon, and West Kelowna
  • The candidates should be available for 2-3 weeks of training in Vancouver, possess the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pulling or pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs.) on a wheeled platform and uphold a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid unrestricted Class 4 BC driver’s license and provide a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
  • The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs and the ability to communicate effectively in English

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safe transportation of blood and blood products while maintaining appropriate temperature controls
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers traveling with them
  • The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to verify equipment functionality and complete all required documentation accurately
  • The candidates should be able to assist the collections team by greeting donors and helping them book or rebook appointments
  • The candidates should be able to set up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events by utilizing their technical skills and ability to learn new programs
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with staff to carry, set up, and dismantle equipment and supplies
  • The candidates should be able to load and unload equipment and supplies at donor center sites and upon return to the center
