Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, and Immunization records

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate strong attention to detail

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be team players, demonstrate honesty, and have the ability to multitask

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
  • International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • The candidates should be able to lead activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, as well as assisting in keeping records and engaging children in activities like storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, establish guidelines for behavior, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, and plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
