Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Post-secondary degree with a concentration in Human Resources, Commerce or Business Administration
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years’ management experience within a unionized manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to make procedural decisions and judgments involving sensitive and confidential issues under stressful conditions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a CPHR designation and possess a minimum of eight to ten years of previous related experience
  • The candidates should be a well-developed HR Professional with a solid Generalist and Change Management background and proven track record of proactively managing the Labour or Management relationship
  • The candidates should be passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing people to achieve positions of greater responsibility and demonstrate strong business and operational acumen, particularly within manufacturing and food processing industries
  • The candidates should exhibit initiative, drive, and leadership, coupled with excellent communication skills
  • The candidates should be results-oriented and able to work effectively as part of a functional team, aligning with Maple Leaf Leadership Edge Core Values
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, along with effective communication and interpersonal abilities and possess excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • The candidates should have advanced skills with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems, including SAP

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage the Human Resources function to ensure alignment with the Plant’s operational strategy
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement tools and interventions in areas such as performance management, work environment practices, rewards and recognition, retention, leadership development, compensation, employee development and advancement, diversity, and employee satisfaction
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and guidance on all Labour Relations matters, including grievance or dispute resolution, interpretation and application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), and disciplinary matters
  • The candidates should be able to track and monitor Human Resources Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as Attendance, Turnover, and Retention
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate the execution of plant operations and corporate programs like succession planning, orientation, and planning for Performance Appraisal and Development (PAD) and Development Action Plans (DAP)
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and administer the HR budget in collaboration with Finance, ensuring effective control to maintain spending within budget
  • The candidates should be able to drive Continuous Improvement initiatives related to Human Resources
  • The candidates should be able to develop and execute an annual HR Plan for the facility, focusing on delivering key Plant and Corporate HR initiative
