Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as completion of a relevant Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Candidates should have three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in HR

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have at least one year of direct experience in labor relations or successful completion of investigations within a unionized environment
  • The candidates should have seasoned knowledge of techniques, principles, and standard Investigation Specialist practices
  • The candidates should have advanced knowledge in labor law, employment law, and human rights law relevant to the management of performance issues and workplace conflict
  • The candidates should have proven ability to conduct comprehensive investigations into employment-related issues (including conflict situations) and to prepare clear and concise reports outlining findings based on evidence and to make thorough, reasoned findings. Seasoned knowledge of and an ability to apply human resource services within a unionized, public service context
  • The candidates should have seasoned knowledge of the GNWT environment, its human resource practices, and procedures in order to complete program-specific audits is an additional asset
  • The candidates should have seasoned knowledge of the importance of, and an ability to maintain accurate records and statistical information on all investigations

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conduct a pre-investigative assessment of allegations to determine if sufficient evidence is available to open an investigation
  • The candidates should be able to collect all relevant information by means of interviews, document review, and site visits
  • The candidates should be able to analyze all information and prepare a comprehensive and detailed report with findings
  • The candidates should be able to look for opportunities to resolve the matter through less confrontational methods, including mediation
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate and provide advice on the mediation of disputes
  • The candidates should be able to provide consultative advice to other individuals doing investigations on behalf of the government
