Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
Experience: Candidates should have experience in rural settings and in working with infants, children, and youth
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT) and experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- The candidates should demonstrate competencies, defined as knowledge, skills, attitudes, and abilities, in working with pediatric and youth populations
- The candidates should have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and be AADL Authorizers
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide evidence-informed services with a focus on occupational performance to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities
- The candidates should be able to act as direct service providers, consultants, educators, or advocates while functioning as integral health care team members
- The candidates should be able to engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure
- The candidates should be able to support clients in achieving optimal functional abilities and independence based on their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations
- The candidates should be able to offer comprehensive services including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, collaborative goal setting, treatment, and prevention
- The candidates should be able to involve clients and families as active participants in all aspects of care and collaborate with them in rehabilitation processes
- The candidates should be able to participate in interprofessional teams to build awareness, support quality improvement, and engage with healthcare providers and other stakeholders
- The candidates should be able to contribute to quality improvement efforts, peer mentoring, and supervise students within their professional community and provide clinical supervision to therapy staff
