Salary: $23.95 – $26.68 per hour, Indicates the salary listed as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement
Shift: To be determined
Employment Type: Full time
Location: Marten River, Temagami
Division: Marten River and Finlayson Point Provincial Park
Job Term: 4 Temporary – annually recurring seasonal contracts for up to 26 weeks per year (May to November) and 30 weeks per year (April to November)

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma
Experience: Candidates need experience completing basic grounds/facilities maintenance and minor repairs, coupled with an ability to use small hand held tools (drills, hammer, paint equipment, cleaning equipment) and grounds maintenance equipment (rake, shovel, lawnmower, weed whip, chainsaw, lawnmower)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should have a valid class G driver’s license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver’s license upon being hired.
  • The candidate should have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in the use of force and have the ability to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as required
  • The candidate should have the working knowledge of resource management principles and practices applicable to Parks and be knowledgeable about law enforcement and possess the ability to interpret, apply and enforce relevant acts and regulations
  • The candidate should have knowledge of, and an ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and directives such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) guidelines and have knowledge of parks programs, services and operating regulations
  • The candidate should have the ability operate a variety of office equipment and have interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively and to provide park information to stakeholders
  • The candidate should have written communication skills to produce reports and correspondence, have demonstrated leadership skills to work in a team and provide guidance to staff and have organizational skills and the ability to work independently and follow and carry out instructions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to assist with enforcement and security and perform resource management duties in the park
  • The candidate should be able to carry out a variety of technical duties and assist with customer service and providing information to park visitors
  • The candidate should be able to provide leadership related to enforcement and visitor programs
