Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of recent work experience as a respiratory therapist in a healthcare environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should provide evidence of commitment to the success of all learners

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (with no restrictions) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • The candidates should have at least 2 years of teaching experience, including preceptorship experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting
  • The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in developing and delivering hybrid and online curriculum
  • The candidates should have highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as outlined in the Professor of the 21st Century document

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to consult with program and course administrators, faculty members, advisory committees, employers, and students to ensure alignment of curriculum with industry
  • The candidates should be able to define learning outcomes, evaluate and validate these outcomes to ensure educational effectiveness
  • The candidates should be able to specify and approve appropriate learning approaches and resources to support course delivery
  • The candidates should be able to incorporate educational technologies to meet the learning needs of modern students and enhance engagement
  • The candidates should be able to review and revise curriculum regularly and participate in professional development activities during non-teaching periods to stay current in their field
