Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post-secondary education in civil engineering
Experience: Candidates should have experience in the construction materials industry, including aggregates, asphalt, and concrete, with knowledge of quality control tests

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work well both independently and as part of a team, work in both outdoor and indoor environments in all weather conditions and handle aggregates lab equipment as part of the role
  • The candidates should be flexible with working hours, including overtime and weekend work, be capable of performing a variety of tasks, including moderate to heavy lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an Ontario high school diploma (OSSD) equivalent, excellent written and oral communication skills to foster strong relationships with customers and internal teams
  • The candidates should have good computer skills for Windows-based software, possess a valid driver’s license, with a minimum of G2

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to implement Lafarge Safety Policies and ensure compliance with government legislation, conduct safety inductions for visitors to the Quality Lab or site
  • The candidates should be able to execute Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for Quality Control (QC) tasks and implement necessary action items, develop and execute Lab/QC Safety Improvement Plans
  • The candidates should be able to implement programs and processes to ensure aggregate product compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications
  • The candidates should be able to follow Lafarge Quality Program procedures, including sampling, testing, reporting, and follow-up for all products at each site of responsibility
  • The candidates should be able to monitor, record, and communicate Aggregate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) performance and investigate variances from the plan
  • The candidates should be able to participate in or lead the development of site-specific actions to reduce waste and innovate new combination materials
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with Sales and Operational teams to align product performance with customer expectations
  • The candidates should be able to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting/moving objects up to 50+ pounds
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to wear and properly utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats, with additional PPE
