Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a university degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, writing and multimedia
Experience: Candidates should have five years of journalism experience, with at least three years in radio and television broadcasting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability and confidence to make good decisions quickly and frequently, often under deadlines, while handling stress and working well under pressure
  • The candidates should be able to track multiple simultaneous activities, plan and prioritize effectively, and analyze complex journalistic and operational issues
  • The candidates should have leadership skills to inspire and direct creative, experienced, and self-motivated staff, using a consultative and team-oriented approach

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have strong proficiency in English and French, demonstrate proven journalism skills and the ability to generate original story ideas
  • The candidates should have experience in producing journalistic programs and stories, knowledge of and significant experience in radio programming, including production for news and information programs, with the ability to write, edit, vet, and line up content
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated understanding of journalistic practices in the broadcasting industry and possess strong editorial judgment
  • The candidates should have a strong understanding of radio fundamentals, be knowledgeable about issues affecting Manitoba and the Franco-Manitoban community
  • The candidates should have a keen eye and ear for stories and story development in news and current affairs
  • The candidates should be familiar with CBC/Radio-Canada programming and understand its Journalistic Standards and Practices

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the station’s Senior Content Manager and senior producers, develop and produce program ideas and content
  • The candidates should be able to work with on-air talent, chase stories, and direct the afternoon radio show or other teams
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all work complies with CBC/Radio-Canada programming policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • The candidates should be able to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and creativity in their role, coordinate and vet the work of others on a regular basis
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with other producers and production staff, including news, television, and digital teams, in producing content and determining the focus of daily and special programming
