Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience conducting analysis/research on water quality projects and designing surveys, including sampling protocols and site selection

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to select appropriate techniques for unique environmental considerations and interpret survey and research results
  • The candidates should have project management skills to plan, coordinate, and lead environmental monitoring and research projects, coordinate activities with partners, and lead a team of crew staff

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a valid Class G driver’s license or equivalent and be able to provide proof upon being hired, theoretical knowledge of aquatic biology and aquatic chemistry
  • The candidates should have experience with technical/specialized environmental sampling methodologies, data collection procedures, proper handling of samples, and technical reporting standards
  • The candidates should have applied knowledge of water, sediment, and benthic macroinvertebrate collection equipment, limnological sampling equipment, and hydrologic equipment
  • The candidates should have problem-solving skills to develop and test novel field methodologies and techniques, perform data quality checks/edits, troubleshoot sampling equipment, and propose solutions
  • The candidates should have strong communication skills to present and discuss technical information, provide expertise, write technical reports, and make presentations
  • The candidates should be proficient with database management, statistical analysis, word processing, and graphics software to develop and maintain databases, ensure data quality, produce analyses, and prepare reports on findings

  • The candidates should be able to work from boats on Ontario’s lakes, conducting fieldwork while surrounded by natural beauty
  • The candidates should be able to travel to different parts of Ontario as part of their role collaborate with a supportive team of professionals dedicated to environmental protection and sustainability
  • The candidates should be able to enhance their skills and knowledge through diverse and challenging projects
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to environmental stewardship by monitoring environmental conditions
  • The candidates should be able to support community well-being by contributing to the health and sustainability of lakes and waterways
