Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be a contact for technical support to the Field Facilities Engineering teams across Oilsands, Lloydminster Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil and provide engineering expertise and support on facility non-RIK changes, mechanical alterations, and equipment installations/repairs, while ensuring engineering SMEs are consulted when required
  • The candidates should be able to perform engineering design in accordance with specifications, codes, regulations, and recommended practices (e.g. ASME, API, and CSA standards) and fulfill functions described in corporate integrity programs like PEIMS, PLIMP, including approval of closure weld forms and sign-off of engineered pressure enclosures (EPE) installations and hot taps
  • The candidates should be able to provide upfront scoping, including design basis, execution plan, cost estimate, and schedule, for moderate to high-complexity project work and support scoping of larger projects through feasibility review and FEED packages
  • The candidates should be able to generate engineering work packages by creating and modifying engineering documents internally or overseeing the development of packages through third party engineering firms and provide engineering support to external engineering firms during front-end engineering, DBM, design reviews, and equipment selection
  • The candidates should be able to provide construction support during the execution and turnover stages of projects, including field change notices and pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) and develop standardized designs and methodologies for repeatable projects
  • The candidates should be able to look back and apply lessons learned to new projects being engineered. Accountable for the development and management of project control deliverables for in-scope work including cost estimates, schedules, forecasting, budget stewardship, risk management and reporting
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate procurement and fabrication of equipment and long-lead materials and manage third party resources, including engineering firms and vendors
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate detailed engineering activities using internal or external (EP) resources and liaise with site execution teams to assist in project construction and commissioning. Facilitate the Cenovus Management of Change (MOC) process to safely manage facility modifications, includes ORA’s in cases where that review is required
  • The candidates should be able to assess risks using process hazard analysis techniques; mitigate risks appropriately and facilitate and approve PHA for assigned MOCs. Submit Engineering Investigations (EI)/MOC requests on behalf of various stakeholders
  • The candidates should be able to support various teams with their proposals, specifically constructability and cost estimates, for project approval through the approval governance process and engage and align stakeholders where required to project objectives and to ensure proposed solution meets the customers’ requirements, both for construction and as a final product
  • The candidates should be able to execute projects through the MOC process in adherence with the COIMS Standard and accountable for MOCs from initiation through to completion and close out
  • The candidates should be able to ensure engineering work is carried out within the requirements of the Cenovus Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) and propose solutions that are fit for purpose, have an attractive business case and are aligned with Cenovus’ strategic objectives
