Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to attend and successfully complete the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Training and Development Department’s instruction for forklift truck operation and obtain a Class DZ Licence
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand verbal and written instructions and express themselves clearly in writing

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a valid Certificate of Qualification as a Parts Technician (240-P) as administered by Skilled Trades Ontario
  • The candidates should be able to pass tests set by the Materials & Procurement Department, which correspond in content to the knowledge, theory, and practical requirements of the role
  • The candidates should attend and successfully complete Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training as well as training for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Subway/SRT Rule Book
  • The candidates should be proficient in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Outlook, possess a valid non-probationary Class G Driver’s Licence
  • The candidates should attend Customer Service training as scheduled, rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform varied and moderately complex duties related to sorting, storing, and issuing parts and general storekeeping at the assigned location
  • The candidates should be able to receive, unpack, check, load, unload, store, track, investigate stock discrepancies, and issue all IFS-controlled parts, supplies, and chemicals required for maintenance operations
  • The candidates should be able to order, receive, store, and issue non-stock items, expediting in urgent situations, and advising Inventory Planners on stock level adjustments for current projects
  • The candidates should be able to ensure passengers and employees are treated with respect and dignity, accommodating the needs of individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders
