Salary: $32.73 hourly 40 to 50 hours per week

Transportation information: The candidates should have own transport

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as trade certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 5 years or more
Credentials: Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement
Own tools/equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to handle Hand-eye co-ordination
  • The candidates should be able to do manual dexterity

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be dependable, accurate, flexible, judgmental, and reliable
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, and be able to work as a team player

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems, inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
  • The candidates should be able to inspect motor in operation, road test motor vehicles and test automotive systems and components, adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
  • The candidates should be able to adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems, diagnose faults and malfunctions and confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
  • The candidates should be able to repair or replace mechanical units or components, test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications, estimate parts and labour costs
  • The candidates should be able to perform scheduled maintenance service, test and adjust units to specifications, advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
  • The candidates should be able to complete reports to record problems and work performed, coach and instruct apprentices
  • The candidates should be able to review work orders and discuss work with supervisor, provide customer service
