Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of degree from a recognized post secondary institution in Accounting
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years of progressively responsible related accounting experience, ideally within the public sector environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to take initiative, think logically, problem solve independently and complete detailed work with a high degree of accuracy
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a recognized Canadian professional accounting designation CPA, CA, CMA and CGA
- The candidates should preferably have capital and project accounting experience
- The candidates should have considerable knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, reporting requirements and practices
- The candidates should possess sound written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial operational staff
- The candidates should have strong technical proficiency with Excel and Google Suite
- The candidates should ideally have a working knowledge of financial systems such as SAP
- The candidates should have experience in the preparation of a variety of complex and diverse financial statements and reports
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with all levels of management and non-management personnel
- The candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide department officials with professional accounting advice and guidance in matters pertaining to financial policies and procedures
- The candidates should be able to maintain the General Ledger by preparing, researching, and managing journal entries, reconciliations, funding analysis
- The candidates should be able to maintain the Fixed Asset System, ensuring the financial integrity of the Fixed Asset Module and application of appropriate capitalization rules and policies
- The candidates should be able to prepare and organize year-end working papers, departmental financial statement preparation, and other related year-end duties within prescribed deadlines
