Experience: Candidates should have 1 year of progressively responsible full cycle (month-end and year-end accounting, budgeting and variance analysis) accounting experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively and clearly communicate and maintain working relationships
- The candidates should have the ability to manage multiple requests and pivot quickly between assignments and tasks
- The candidates should have the ability to commute to various work locations, including outside of the downtown core, as well as the ability to work and train remotely
- The candidates should have an understanding of acceptable business practices, internal controls, and policies within a large corporate environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be registered to start the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) by August 19, 2024, or working towards the CPA designation
- The candidates should have 1 year of progressively responsible full cycle (month-end and year-end accounting, budgeting, and variance analysis) accounting experience and also with a less experience
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively and clearly communicate and maintain working relationships
- The candidates should have excellent proficiency with Microsoft Applications Excel and Word
- The candidates should have knowledge and experience with Google Applications Sheets and Docs
- The candidates should have knowledge of major financial and analytical software systems and financial systems related to the position SAP and COBS
- The candidates should have knowledge of public sector accounting standards, requirements, and practices
- The candidates should possess strong conceptual skills, problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and the ability to maintain sustained attention to detail in checking, recording, analyzing financial transactions and excellent customer service skills while ensuring adherence to professional standards

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting and reporting
- The candidates should be able to apply public sector accounting standards and City accounting policies to daily practices
- The candidates should be able to prepare working papers and support for external audit requirements and record transactions
- The candidates should be able to assist in the preparation of the City’s consolidated financial statements
- The candidates should be able to support operational business partners through the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of financial data, variances, cost drivers, and monthly and yearly budgets and actuals
- The candidates should be able to conduct analysis of data and provide support to the Senior Accountant or Finance Manager by gathering data and developing spreadsheet reports for budget proposals, service packages, recommendations, and business cases
- The candidates should be able to perform budget consolidation and update information in the City’s budgeting system (COBS)
- The candidates should be able to assist with the audit plan, determining objectives, criteria, risks, scope, and work program required to complete the audit
- The candidates should be able to perform the audit work plan with the assistance of the Senior Auditor, including reviewing relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, analyzing operational processes, and benchmarking the City against external programs to evaluate performance and identify major operational and organizational risks
- The candidates should be able to document audit findings and opinions for presentation to management
