Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have 12 months of related customer service and cash handling experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have great administrative, communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and public relations skills, together with the ability to use tact and discretion and to deal courteously and effectively with the public and fellow staff members
- The candidates should have ability to multi-task, cope with interruptions, and work under pressure to meet multiple deadlines, exercising discretion and good judgment, particularly when handling highly confidential/sensitive information and possess initiative and integrity
- The candidates should be physically fit and able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to push, pull, lift, carry, or otherwise move objects
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have Knowledge of Town programs, activities, and facilities
- The candidates should possess a current Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with results satisfactory to the employer, and a valid standard first aid & CPR/AED Level C certification (or willing to obtain)
- The candidates should have a valid Class “G” driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Ability and willingness to travel within the community and work from various town facilities
- The candidates should have working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, office equipment, cash register, and debit machine and familiarity with Perfect Mind
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide exceptional customer service both externally and internally related to various municipal programs, products, and services
- The candidates should be able to handle patron needs and inquiries in a courteous and friendly manner through in-person front counter customer services
- The candidates should be able to answer phone calls from the Town’s main customer service queue, relay calls and messages, or direct calls as appropriate
- The candidates should be able to respond to incoming emails received to the Town’s general account or the Parks, Recreation, and Culture account. This includes following the Common Service Standards, researching information, and liaising with department staff to provide accurate information to patrons
- The candidates should be able to respond to enquiries for Parks, Recreation, and Culture (PRC) regarding rental facility costs, amenities, booking availability, account enquiries, concerns, cancellations, and booking charges. Additionally, they should follow up as needed, document concerns, and forward information to appropriate department staff for investigation
- The candidates should be able to maintain awareness of Town operations, programs, and procedures, providing interpretation of guidelines and procedures and supporting patrons in completing documents and forms
- The candidates should be able to process customer transactions, determining that eligibility requirements are met and obtaining required documentation
- The candidates should be able to process registrations for PRC programs and activities such as aquatics
- The candidates should be able to handle cash, cheque, debit, and/or credit transactions with customers for various Town services, including but not limited to admissions, pass sales, rental fees for PRC facilities (e.g., parks, sports fields, aquatics, etc.), transit passes, and seasonal parking permits
- The candidates should be able to prepare/check the cash register float at the start of the shift, accounting and preparing end-of-day cash reports for the gross takings at the completion of the shift in accordance with agreed procedures
