Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English or French Language
Education: Candidates should have a recognized university degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Indigenous Studies or related field
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years related experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have formal training as a Career Development Officer
  • The candidates should be fluent in two or more of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and Inuktut, as well as experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work with Government of Nunavut (GN) staff to provide information and guidance regarding choices for employment, training, and career directions, and support in pursuing these directions, reporting to the Manager, Inuit Employment Initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to assist GN Inuit employees to select an employment/career path and pursue work experience, training, and development required to achieve personal and organizational goals
  • The candidates should be able to enable Inuit to take ownership of their careers and take full advantage of opportunities available to them, such as Sivumuaqatgiit’s Inuit Employment Initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to identify initiatives that will best support the career aspirations of Inuit and provide advice and support to departments regarding career paths, career ladders, learning, and succession plans for Inuit staff
  • The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and evaluate career planning programming and consulting services to individual employees, managers, trainers, departments, boards, and agencies
  • The candidates should be able to identify career interests and guide GN Inuit employees on expanding their career growth using Inuit Employment Initiatives

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance $16,008 per year
