Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a 4-year apprentice program
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of carpentry-related work experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in an environment of change and must be creative and flexible
  • The candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have high school, college, or industry courses, be proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • The candidates should possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and have a clear driver’s abstract

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide relief supervision and coordination for Carpenters, ensuring that work is completed efficiently and according to schedule
  • The candidates should be able to supervise, monitor, control, and inspect construction site work to ensure that tasks are on track and comply with plans, specifications, codes, standards, and regulations
  • The candidates should be able to ensure that proper safety measures and practices are in place throughout the construction process, safeguarding the well-being of all workers on site
  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements for construction tasks
  • The candidates should be able to prepare layouts that conform to building codes and standards, ensuring all dimensions and designs are accurate
  • The candidates should be able to measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials to construct building components
  • The candidates should be able to build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring, and erect walls and roof systems as part of the construction process
  • The candidates should be able to fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, molding, and hardware, ensuring precision and quality finishes
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the project
