Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have a completed Master of Social Work or a Bachelor of Social
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of related experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be strong team players, be empowered to drive positive change and be compassionate, reliable, and resourceful
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid driver’s license, be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW)
- The candidates should have a deep understanding of child development, family dynamics, trauma-informed care, and community resources and be well-versed in effective intervention strategies
- The candidates should possess excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking to enhance support for children and families and good written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assess child protection concerns and work with families and communities to address them
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with and support individuals and families in crisis situations
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement case plans in partnership with families
- The candidates should be able to work closely with community organizations and advocate for access to community resources
- The candidates should be able to conduct risk assessments, provide court testimonies, and participate in case evaluations
- The candidates should be able to plan for and supervise children under the care of the Minister, ensuring their safety and well-being
