Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available for shift work, including a rotating shift pattern of 4 days on, 3 days off, with 8.75-hour shifts and work on a 24/7 schedule, including Daytime, Evening, and Weekend Shifts and understand that the shift patterns allow for earning additional leave hours according to the relevant collective agreement provisions on paid holidays and schedules
- The candidates should be open to opportunities for overtime or compensatory time off and prepared to work in-office on immediate notice if requested under the Business Continuity Plan or when operationally required, despite the hybrid work setting
- The candidates should live near their designated office to meet this requirement and willing to travel as necessary, with transportation arrangements meeting the operational requirements of the ministry
- The candidates should be able to travel in adverse (reasonable) weather conditions and prepared to use their own vehicle with appropriate insurance on an expense account basis
- The candidates should be ready to work with families facing challenges, which may occasionally involve exposure to unpleasant dealings with angry, abusive, or abused clients, and hazards from working around volatile parents and/or children in crisis
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have higher in Social Work, Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child and Youth Care, Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology or a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare and in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees with a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- The candidates should confirm that their education obtained outside of Canada has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES) and provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of the posting
- The candidates should be considered equivalent if they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or have a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration
- The candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field, Bachelor’s Degree with a Major or Honors in a Human Services field, Master’s level graduate Certificate or Diploma in a Human Services field obtained after completing an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree
- The candidates should have experience working with and planning for children and youth in a child and family service agency that provides legislated services child protection, guardianship, resources, family support, or adoption, experience with progressive responsibility in legislated child and family services within an agency, experience managing or supervising a team of employees who work in child and family services
- The candidates should have experience with a child and family service agency that provides legislated services child protection, guardianship, resources, family support, or adoption and experience with a social services agency on an Indigenous reserve, providing direct support services and experience with a family services agency that provides assessment and counseling services and experience with a contracted agency providing assessment, counseling, and family support services
- The candidates should have experience in a specialized care setting for vulnerable adults, children, or youth that involves direct work with families and experience in a policing, probation, or corrections setting and experience in a mental health or healthcare setting providing assessment and counseling services and experience in an education setting undertaking assessment and counseling services
- The candidates should have experience with a social services agency providing services to people with diverse abilities and vulnerable adults and experience with a provincial agency dedicated to promoting safe and healthy workplaces, providing services and support for injured worker and current C6 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFSCA)
- The candidates should have had C6 delegation and worked in a delegated child protection position in BC within the past 2 years
