Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as High School graduation and equivalent combination of training and experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should show the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, organize work, and undertake assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should possess the ability to type accurately at 40 words per minute, and Basic Word

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a Certificate in Human Resource or Business Management and should demonstrate a working knowledge of the PeopleSoft Base HR and Recruitment Modules
  • The candidates should exhibit the ability to work independently in a team environment, multitask, prioritize work assignments, while working under stressful conditions and time-sensitive deadlines
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and have knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
  • The candidates should have a good working knowledge and understanding of the department’s policy and procedures, applicable Collective Agreements
  • The candidates should have general knowledge of the Community Services Department and the ability to gain extensive knowledge of the role and functions of the Human Resource Strategy & Services Division
  • The candidates should be able to maintain confidentiality with respect to dealing with sensitive documents and employee issues

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist in providing Human Resource support to the department’s operating divisions, including recruitment, Base HR, and other administrative duties
  • The candidates should be able to prepare internal and external postings and ensure proper processes are followed within required timelines
  • The candidates should be able to update the PeopleSoft Recruitment module, enter job requisition and posting information, and prepare applicant seniority ranking documents
  • The candidates should be able to prepare bulletin and interview packages, schedule interviews, and arrange testing and be able to act as the department’s WCB administrator and health benefits administrator
  • The candidates should be able to complete letters of offers, create employee files, and track completion of onboarding activities such as Police Information Checks, benefits forms, and other pre-employment information
  • The candidates should be able to track and process CUPE Union leave recoveries, hourly employee increment upgrades, and employee seniority eligibility
  • The candidates should be able to process, track, and prepare employee reimbursements and related reports and be able to perform other duties consistent with the classification
