Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Post-secondary technical training/education in a field related to the design and construction of buildings/facilities
Experience: Candidates should have Minimum 5 years’ technically focused work experience in a facilities-based environment focusing on the design, construction/installation, commissioning and/or maintenance of new facilities and facilities systems

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have inspection skills, involving critical observation, trouble-shooting, attention to detail, accuracy of appearance, and exercising authority, general understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects
  • The candidates should have ability to recognize unusual site conditions or circumstances, assess and make sound judgments to ensure unsafe work activities are immediately stopped, and communicate any concerns clearly with the Project Manager for follow-up with the Contractor
  • The candidates should demonstrated capacity for problem-solving, conflict resolution, and innovative thinking, strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in coordination with partners and maintain productive working relationships
  • The candidates should have professional mannerism and conduct, a positive work attitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential and identify and address potential issues during site inspections proactively and resolve them in a timely manner
  • The candidates should have the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and balance efforts to complete varying workloads, as well as seek methods to improve, develop, and streamline business practices and processes for performance effectiveness and efficiency

Other Requirements:

  • The Candidates should have base building systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience applied in technical work related to the construction of buildings/structures and/or the installation of building components and systems (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, life safety)
    The candidates should have previous work experience within an airport environment, and an understanding of hot work & surface penetration risks assessment
  • The candidates should obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position. Precise adherence to permit application processes and efficient provision of the best customer service to clients
  • The candidates should have the ability to read and understand engineering drawings and common construction documentation typically submitted for building permit applications. Problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply alternate measures
  • The candidates should have general knowledge of building construction principles, practices, project management procedures, and familiarity with facility elements and base building operating systems
  • The candidates should possess a general understanding of construction-related activities and processes and have knowledge of the content and application of the Airport Construction Code and referenced documents
  • The candidates should have excellent time-management and computer skills and respond to challenging situations with tact and subtlety, support all partners in their respective duties during the FAP process, and effectively assess and distribute application documentation to various FAP review partners for timely and accurate reviews

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist with the overall Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) Process, respond to general inquiries regarding FAP process requirements, and review submitted application documentation to understand the scope of work for routine site reviews and inspections
  • The candidates should be able to respond to requests for site reviews, ensuring compliance with approved documentation and applicable GTAA Guidelines, and verify work compliance with submitted documentation, the Airport Construction Code, and other relevant codes, standards, and airport practices
  • The candidates should be able to maintain written inspection reports detailing work progress, safety or non-compliance issues, and property damage is a key responsibility. The candidates should discuss issues found with contractors and Project Managers to establish plans for issue rectification
  • The candidates should be able to Issue written notices (Order to Comply or Stop Work Order) when necessary to address matters of work non-compliance and/or safety concerns is part of the role and participate in final inspections and demonstrations initiated by contractors and consultants
  • The candidates should be able to track and review all submitted final documentation required for the final Occupancy/Use Permit and review and verify the accuracy of the record drawings submitted
  • The candidates should be able to monitor contractors’ day-to-day activities to ensure compliance by conducting site audits and reviews, identifying potential issues or violations and work with the Contractors, the Project Consultants, and CCPO’s Consultants to ensure issues are addressed efficiently and effectively
