Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Certificate or Diploma in security management, law enforcement and/or criminology from a recognized post secondary institute
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five (5) years of multi-disciplined security experience including experience at the supervisory level with emphasis on Closed Circuit Television and Card Access Systems
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have demonstrated or existing eligibility for a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation and possess Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) and Physical Security Professional (PSP) designations
- The candidates should hold a valid Security Services and Investigators License, including Executive Protection and should possess a VIP Executive Protection certificate and prior experience
- The candidates should have experience in conducting physical security surveys and audits, as well as physical security planning, such as card access, alarm system design and specifications, and a sound knowledge of digital video surveillance systems
- The candidates should demonstrate skills in facilitating groups on delivering security awareness seminars and have in-depth knowledge of criminal law and legislation respecting property access, access to information, and Human Rights enactment
- The candidates should possess active knowledge of contract law, civil and criminal liabilities, risk management, and basic and corporate financial controls
- The candidates should have experience with the Google platform and have excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation), interpersonal, and political acumen skills required
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to assess risks and make sound judgments while adapting and responding proactively to changing circumstances
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- The candidates should have the ability to adapt to a shifting schedule environment and hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent); obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position
- The candidates should arrange their own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy and clear Enhanced Security Clearance that includes a Vulnerable Sector Search satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to provide VIP Executive Protection services
- The candidate should be able to offer professional consultation, establishing and developing policies & procedures for all City of Edmonton Departments
- The candidate should be able to identify threats, determine countermeasures, and make recommendations to reduce vulnerability
- The candidate should be able to perform security inspections and audits on City of Edmonton facilities and be able to evaluate and recommend security systems
- The candidate should be able to investigate incidents of theft, fraud, vandalism, and other criminal and non-criminal incidents against City property or employees from both internal and external sources
- The candidate should be able to increase safety and security awareness through the development and delivery of training sessions
- The candidate should be able to maintain a contact list to keep ahead of emerging trends and build relationships and work closely with clients to find proactive and innovative solutions to reduce the number and severity of incidents
